My Story

Hi, I’m Char.

I’m a mum, sourdough lover and gut-health enthusiast figuring out what it really means to live intentionally.

For years I thought I was doing everything “right” by hitting my ‘macro’s’, exercising daily & ticking all the other wellness boxes. But my body had other plans.

After my son was born, I began experiencing symptoms I couldn’t ignore. What started as constant exhaustion, acne, and new lactose and gluten sensitivities slowly escalated into chronic pain and, eventually, multiple emergency hospital visits. (Yes – including blood in vomit.)

The medical system offered no real answers. I was given a vague IBS diagnosis and a handful of medications designed to mask my symptoms, not heal the root cause.

That was my turning point.
Instead of chasing quick fixes that would ultimately lead me to more health complications down the track, I turned inwards — to food, to nature, to healing from the inside out. That diagnosis, as confusing and hard as it was, brought me back into the kitchen with a new sense of purpose and really pushed me to slow down and listen to my body.

One of the biggest shifts for me was removing seed oils, preservatives, and ultra-processed “nasties.”

The changes were genuinely life-giving. My IBS symptoms disappeared, my skin cleared, and for the first time in years my nervous system actually felt calm and regulated. After living with constant anxiety, learning how to breathe with a clear, quiet mind has been the most healing part of all.

Looking back, all those years of relying on chemically processed foods (‘high’ protein products, low-cal alternatives, and additive-filled convenience foods) did far more damage to my gut than the few grams I ever lost on the scale. And this realisation was just the tip of the iceberg.

Now, having ignited my passion for cooking; I spend my days baking from scratch, living low-tox, and nourishing my family with real, gut-loving food.

This is also where the name Mind Body Char comes from!
I’ve learned first hand how deeply the gut and brain are connected – how what we eat, how we move, and even how we think all feed into each other. Healing hasn’t just been about my digestion; it’s been about my mind, my body, and the way I live as a whole. That’s the heart of what I share here.

So whether you’re here for gut-friendly snacks, easy but nourishing recipes, or simply a slower, more intentional approach to your families health…
You’re right at home here 🤍
