My Story

Hi, I’m Char.

Mum, sourdough lover and gut-health enthusiast figuring out what it really means to live slow & intentionally.

For years I thought I was doing everything “right” by eating ‘clean’, exercising daily, ticking all the other wellness boxes. But my body had other plans. After my son was born, I started experiencing symptoms I couldn’t ignore. What I thought was just exhaustion, acne, lactose issues turned into chronic pain, and eventually an IBS diagnosis after a trip to the hospital. The medical solution I was handed was pile of meds to cover up the symptoms, not heal them.

That was my turning point.
Instead of chasing quick fixes that would ultimately lead me to more health complications down the track, I turned inward — to food, to nature, to healing from the inside out. That diagnosis, as confusing and hard as it was, brought me into the kitchen with a new sense of purpose and pushed me to slow down and really listen to my body.

One of the biggest shifts for me was cutting out seed oils, preservatives, and processed “nasties.” The changes were life-giving: my IBS symptoms disappeared, my skin cleared, and my nervous system finally started to feel calm and regulated. After years of anxiety, learning how to truly slow down and breathe again has been the most healing part of all.

Now, having ignited my passion for cooking; I spend my days baking from scratch, living low-tox, and nourishing my body with real, gut-loving food.

This is also where the name Mind Body Char comes from!
I’ve learned firsthand how deeply the gut and brain are connected — how what we eat, how we move, and even how we think all feed into each other. Healing hasn’t just been about my digestion; it’s been about my mind, my body, and the way I live as a whole. That’s the heart of what I share here.
